New Web shop AvoSound has released a rare sound collection: Tibetan Monastery Ambiences (50 sounds, 17.75 gigabytes, $88.00).
Famed field recordist Peter Michael Sullivan released a few outstanding Tibetan tracks on The Hollywood Edge’s Signature Series CD. Other than that, I’m not aware of too many other Tibetan recordings. This collection from AvoSound provides fresh field recordings of monks, prayer wheels, and atmospheres. The result of a three-week visit to Tibet, the collection is provided in both stereo and 5.1 (thus the hefty 17.75 gigabyte size).

In addition to the cool field recordings, AvoSound’s Tibetan Monastery Ambiences product page has some informative text about Tibet, monks, prayer wheels, and monasteries. There are also a few videos, as well.
