German sound designers Tilman Hahn and Emil Klotzsch are the driving force behind Tonsturm, a premium sound library Web shop. Yesterday the duo released their latest collection: Massive Explosions (656 sounds, 7+ gigabytes, $249.00).
The collection is offered in both stereo and multi-channel versions. Notably, the multi-channel format features up to 19 tracks of blasts. The versions break down like so:
- Multi-channel: 656 files, 7 gigabytes, $249.00
- Stereo: 177 sounds, 2 gigabytes, $179.00
The explosions pack an excellent variety of distances. The selection of microphones (Sennheiser MKH 70/8020/8040, MD 211/421, and many others) contributes a good cross-section of sonic textures, as you can hear in this SoundCloud audio preview:
And here’s a dramatic Vimeo video featuring the library and the recording session:
Massive Explosions is currently on sale until April 1st. The multi-channel version is $199 (a $50 savings), and the stereo version is $149 (a $30 savings). Learn more about Massive Explosions on Tonsturm’s website.
