Nature fans will appreciate this new sound fx collection. Web shop Soundholder has followed up quickly after their two most recent releases with a new bird sound bundle: Eurasian Cranes (13 sounds, 2.34 gigabytes, $40.00).
The product of multiple field recording missions to capture the flock of cranes, the Soundholder crew patiently waited through long nights amongst swirling mosquitos to bring us 68 minutes of the Eurasian cranes calling, gargling, and squawking.
Soundholder described the experience:
Recording animals is completely different experience, and what I’ve learned is that you have to accept and take whatever you’ve been given. It was impossible for me to go closer, or avoid the sound of wind, just because few more steps would scare the birds, so recordings are really natural. Also, I had to wait for all the birds, so the files I’ve recorded sounds different, because of different amount of birds. When I got to a location I was alone with just few ducks. Cranes got there later, in groups counting from 30 to 200 birds.
The collection was captured in with two Oktava MK012 microphones positioned in ORTF and tracked to a Sound Devices 702 audio recorder.
