A version of this post appeared in an earlier email-only post to subscribers of the sound library creators newsletter.
For the last while posts here been designed for sound library fans with new library features and updates. Today’s post is meant for sound library creators themselves. If you create sound bundles, read on!
We’ll return to sound library updates in later posts.
From time to time large distributors have contacted the site. Typically they want to get in touch with libraries for licensing or partnerships. From this point forward I’ll start posting licensing and partnering opportunities on the site. I don’t endorse them, per se. Instead, I’ll lay out the information, and you can judge if it is a good fit for you. Get in touch with these people to see if it is a good deal. That being said, I’ll only send messages I think are worth it to learn more.
Distributor – Magic Sound Lab
The first is a website called Magic Sound Lab. Pedro Silva of Magic Sound Lab got in touch with me and explained that they license music for video creators. They have music, and are looking for effects to compliment it.
Here are the broad strokes:
- For video creators
- Currently music-centric, looking to add more sound effects
- Offers a unique AI-assisted search
- Site launch planned in November
- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wearemagicsound/
- Video demo: http://bit.ly/2J66OIw
- Scope: Non-exclusive agreement
- End user license: synchronization
- Rate: 50/50 fee split
- Term: Roughly a year minimum duration, this has yet to be finalized
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, you can contact Pedro Silva directly. Here’s his email address pedro.silva [at] magicsoundlab [dot] com.
To speed the process along I’d suggest mentioning Sound Effects Search, share a Soundcloud demo of your best work, and introduce the library and its highlights as well as yourself. A tip: remember to keep their customers in mind when you present yourself, and how your content would help Magic Sound Lab succeed.
As I mentioned, I hear from companies like this from time to time. I announce these opportunities on the sound library creators free newsletter. So, if you’re interested in this sort of thing, sign up and you’ll be the first to know.
Best wishes with your recordings,
